"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude.
One of the blessings of the gospel is the knowledge that when the curtain of death signals the end of our mortal lives, life will continue on the other side of the veil. There we will be given new opportunities. Not even death can take from us the eternal blessings promised by a loving Heavenly Father.
Because Heavenly Father is merciful, a principle of compensation prevails."
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, “Come What May, and Love It,” Ensign, Nov 2008,
As completely joyful as today has been, my mind can't help but recall the last time we drove to the hospital, that time with absolute sorrow at something that was taken from us. Tears flowed freely as I tried to understand why my sweet sister should have to bear the burden of losing a child, at such a young age. I still don't understand how so much pain can be felt by the human soul. I do know, now more than ever, that we have a merciful Heavenly Father, and "that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude."
That day was today.
And he is such a wonderful kind of compensation.
As I looked into the beautiful, bright eyes of this brand new, fresh from heaven Baby Angel, my heart overflowed with immense love for him. And also for another Angel Baby that because of the Plan of Salvation, I will get to hold in my arms and admire with all the love an auntie can. Heaven felt pretty darn close at that very moment.
There really is nothing like a brand new baby.

There really isn't anything like a new baby! I couldn't be more happy for your whole family! He is a BEAUTIFUL little baby! Enjoy every single moment with him!!!
Your words were so appropriate and I loved how you tied in the tremendous loss of ten months ago to the joyous events of today.
Aren't we lucky we have an eternal perspective of family? It does not make it any easier for us left here on earth to endure, but it does makes our faith stronger and it increases our desire to do good continually so that we can be worthy to stand in the presence of those who've gone before us. The promise given by Elder Wirthlin is so sweet and you're very sensitive to recognize that the promise was fulfilled today.
Congratulations to your whole family!

OH, and by the way, good job on knowing the xterra quote is from the office. :)
I'm so happy you are happy with your family!
So sweet Marianne. Tell them congrats for us. They have been through a lot. You all have. Babies are so special, especially when they are so new. They change so fast, but those first moments with them stick with you so vividly. I'm so glad you are enjoying this time with them.
Thanks so much Marianne. I am in tears! You are such a loving sister, Melynne is very blessed! We waited with anticipation the other night for the little text updates your Mom was sending out. When the one with this little guy's picture came Dee was positively giddy! We are so happy for your family. My own mother lost two sweet babies at birth and I look forward to the day I can see her holding them and give them my own sisterly love!
Thanks so much for sharing! I've been anxious to see some pictures of him!
I love the way you described the love you feel for him. I can feel it and TOTALLY know what you mean. You are going to be THE BEST Aunt EVER. Thanks for this post-I feel uplifted. And it's true, "there's nothin' like a new baby."
