It's A Wonderful Life...

We had a great first Christmas- great but tiring! Making multiple stops both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day made us both happy to be home and in bed by 10:00 Christmas night. We had a great time with our families- splitting time evenly was a bit of a challenge though! We both have great families which we are so grateful for, so everyone was really easy going about the whole deal.
Despite the craziness we experienced quite a bit of good luck- we went shopping for a few last minute items at Target, Wal Mart, and Kohl's and only waited in line for about 3 minutes at each place. Someone must know how unhappy I become with shopping and with waiting in long lines.
Our biggest feat this Christmas is that we were able to make a patchwork quilt for some friends of ours- and have it done BEFORE Christmas day!

Somehow we also got roped into making a blanket for my sister's boyfriend. It was a two blanket Christmas:) We were both in touch with our inner seamstress. I have to admit I had to dig deep to find her. I guess that's what tying a quilt is for- covering mis-matched seams:)

All in all- we have a lot to be grateful for. We have so many people to love and be loved by, and Christmas time is such a great time to recognize that. And you really can't beat the 22 year old boy who is practically giddy when he opens his "Joyful" gift and his favorite tennis match that he's hinted about a million times is inside. And the matching pajamas. And decorating a tree together. Gosh, the list goes on and on...Life really doesn't get much better than this. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Traditions Old and New...

This Christmas has been one of traditions- both old and new, and some blending of differences! (Imagine that with marriage!) Some of our favorite however have been...
  • The Christmas Carol at the Hale Center Theater with BOTH families!
  • Buying a Christmas Tree together
  • Making our own "picture wreath"
  • Giving and Receiving Joyful, Meaningful, and Needful gifts
  • Making chocolate covered pretzels
  • Decorating the stairs with Paul's Dr. Seuss ornaments
  • A Christmas Countdown from our dear friends the Murphy's
  • And of course- spending time together and with friends and family!
Happy Holidays!

Finally some wedding pictures

Tradition

Today was the annual get together with Emily, Melody, and Jill- something we've done since 8th grade. It was so fun to catch up with all of the girls and have a good time together. And I will admit that I'm glad we're done with the Chinese food. Kneaders was definitely a much better alternative! Since I was without a camera I'll have to wait for Emily to post our pictures. This tradition has been one of my favorite things about the holiday season- which sounds like a new idea for my next blog.
